sharon randall's story on being a grandma

as i read sharon randalls story regarding being a first time nana, i couldnt help but smile at the memories i have of my grandma...  i am 45 years old and i can still remember fondly all the things my grandma did for my cousins and myself.  grandmas house was the place to go and we all knew it.  we did the weekly food fest and we did the church on sundays, (i'm sure there is still a bald spot in my bottom hairline where she would reach behind others in the pew and yank my hair out if i behaved inappropriately.  i too want to be a grandma, i want to spoil my grandkids like crazy, but like sharon, i would be a long distance grandma which would be hard on me.  my oldest two arent quite there yet, although my daughter is in love and any day now i expect the call saying she is taking that next step.  i know in my head she is still too young to have kids, but my heart is craving another baby.  luckily i have a niece who has a couple of babies, one of each and they are here, so when the ache gets too bad, well i go shopping for a cute dress or a sporty boy outfit.  i have to admit though, it sure is nice to do those things when i want to do it rather than when i was the mother of my 3.  i can already tell i will enjoy being a grandmother, although this is definitely not a hint or a push for my adult kids to jump the gun on my behalf.
